What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $102,000 - $127,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a seasoned plumbing and infrastructure Facilities Superintendent to join our Facility Management Team! This individual must be a strong leader, with the ability to spearhead change and promote a strong employee culture while building relationships throughout the organization.
Specifically, as the Facilities Superintendent, you will:
- Manage various plumbing and infrastructure trades employees involved in the maintenance and repair of the DEN Facility.
- Develop and monitor work teams and units to determine priorities and objectives and assign staff to efficiently and effectively accomplish the division's goals and objectives.
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance and repair programs for City-owned facilities and equipment at the airport.
- Implement safety standards and develop procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the formulation of the budget and track expenditures.
- Estimate plumbing, building and paint expenditures on construction, remodeling, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Disseminate information to supervisors regarding work schedules, time frames, cost estimates, required personnel and the feasibility of plumbing and building maintenance projects.
- Direct the development of performance evaluation standards for functions managed within the guidelines set by top management; formally evaluate the work of subordinate supervisors and staff.
- Develop and implement staff training and development plans to provide cross training of employees, specific job-related training, and other approaches to provide opportunities for staff flexibility and development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
What You’ll Bring
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Five (5) years of leadership experience in a related field.
- Extensive technical and hands-on experience in plumbing, infrastructure systems, or related trades.
- Broad knowledge and practical experience across multiple skilled trades.
- Experience in aviation facilities or a strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Certified Facility Management Professional (CFMP) or equivalent industry-recognized certification.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirements: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience supervising skilled trades work in the maintenance, repair and construction of buildings and facilities.
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
Additional Information
FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Snow/Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
