The must-have credential for all facility management professionals and industry suppliers. IFMA's Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation is a knowledge-based credential that will help to accelerate an FM's transition in the profession and demonstrate a proven comprehension of the foundations of facility management.

We’re thrilled to announce that as of January 2025, the number of Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) credential holders has exceeded 20,000 globally! This milestone would not have been possible without your dedication and support. You are the heart of our association and a driver of industry impact. The FMP has become the standard for emerging facility professionals, and more employers are seeking IFMA-credentialed FMs.

This course takes about 55-60 hours of learning and studying to achieve. Join us in celebrating more than 20,000 FMP's in the world!

The FMP focuses on four courses in four main core topics within facility management: 

Operations and Maintenance

  1. Introduction to Operations and Maintenance
  2. Assess Facility Needs
  3. Manage/Oversee Operations and Maintenance of Building, Systems, and Equipment
  4. Manage/Oversee Occupant Services
  5. Select the Best Resources
  6. Measure Operations and Maintenance Performance

Project Management

  1. Introduction to Project Management
  2. Define Projects
  3. Plan Projects
  4. Manage and Oversee Projects
  5. Close Projects

Finance and Business

  1. Finance and Business in the Facility Organization
  2. Financial Management of the Facility Organization
  3. Procurement in the Facility Organization
  4. Contracts in the Facility Organization

Leadership and Strategy Essentials Competency

  1. Plan Strategically
  2. Lead the FM Organization
  3. Manage the FM Organization
  4. Influence the Demand Organization

To earn the FMP, you must pass the online FMP final assessment at each course's end. After passing all four final assessments, submit your FMP application and learn about FAQs.

Schedule

In-person: Student Fee $700/course or $2,400 for 4-pack member; nonmembers contact IFMA Denver Chapter for pricing.
